ABOUT ME
Hello! This is Thomas.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Industrial Design degree and Sustainability minor from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York. Currently pursing a Master of Design degree at University of California, Berkeley. During the past few years of studying in this field and working alongside other creatives and under many mentors, I found a deep interest in the engineering and technology aspect of design - something that I continue to explore in everything I do. In all my work, I enjoy going through every step of the design process as well as creating engineering-focused design that’s human-centered, practical and ethical to our society. Using my artistic, design and engineering skills, my ultimate goal is to improve people’s lives physically and spiritually.
Having a very unique education growing up, my perspective on the world is unlike most of my peers’. I have studied in five schools under Chinese, British, Canadian and American education systems. This global experience of studying in different countries as well as living in them has truly widened my mind from a multicultural standpoint. The hardship of moving and adapting to new environments has continuously challenged and strengthened me while contributing to my curiosity to explore new things and start new adventures.
The most recent relocation to Bay Area has definitely influenced me the most in terms of design thinking. My interest in design has only begun to blossom in recent years, with my revelation of the freedom and opportunities that this design field presents to me and the world. And while my fellow designers (both students and professors alike) have inspired me to be proud of my work and always strive for better, the eight part-time jobs I’ve held since being here have also enabled me to improve the quality of my work immensely.
